Mirrors

What is a mirror?

A mirror is an object that reflects a clear image. There is more than just one type of mirror. The most common is the plane mirror which has a flat surface, for light rays hitting a plane mirror, the angle of reflection is the same as the angle of incidence. Then there are curved mirrors such as concave and convex.

  • Plane mirror - a mirror with a flat surface
  • Concave mirror - a mirror that bends inward
  • Convex mirror - a mirror that bends outward

A mirror can be used for different things, people mainly use it to look at themselves but that's not it. Scientists use mirrors to see how an object has changed (SALT). They use it to see where the image of the object is. Whether its in front of the mirror, on the surface of it, or behind it.
